"Billionaire trying to relate to a normal person" - Fans react to LeBron James' promise to his daughter after Donald Trump's victory
LeBron James was not particularly fond of the election result, with Donald Trump becoming the 47th President of the United States. After what happened, James made a promise to his daughter Zhuri, which many NBA fans reacted to on social media.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, James expressed his feelings about Trump's win and called it "heavy" on his heart. He endorsed Trump's opponent Kamala Harris a few days before the election, but she lost. He promised Zhuri he would protect her and assured her they didn't "need their help."
"HEAVY ON MY HEART & MIND THIS AM MY PRINCESS πΈπΎ!! PROMISE TO PROTECT YOU WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE AND MORE!! WE DONT NEED THEIR HELP! π€π€π€π€π€π€π€," LeBron wrote.
NBA fans reacted to LeBron James' Instagram post on other platforms such as X, formerly known as Twitter, where it was re-posted. Some pointed out that James doesn't need to worry about anything since he's a billionaire and likely won't be affected by any potential negative effects of Donald Trump's second tenure as POTUS.
"Billionaire trying to relate to a normal person #corny," a fan tweeted.
"This is why half the country is divided because of stupid statements like this," one fan claimed.
"Bro acting like somebody's gonna erase his family chill big dawg lmao," another fan remarked.
LeBron James has reported a net worth of $1.2 billion, so he's possibly not going to be worried about money. Nevertheless, it's all about his perceived notion of the new president, who has mocked him multiple times over the years during his rallies.
"You're a billionaire LeBron no matter who is in power you will be fine," a fan wrote.
"LeBron is the worst, heβs a friken billionaire.. guy acts like the whole world revolves around him. You play basketball you woke weirdo," one fan commented.
"Has he ever talked about children in Palestine?" another fan asked.
Donald Trump won the presidency 295-226 over Kamala Harris on electoral votes. Trump also won the popular vote with a total of 72,377,673 against Harris' 67,693,582 votes.
LeBron James endorsed Kamala Harris for president
Several days before the election, LeBron James made his voice heard by endorsing Kamala Harris for president. James represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics when Harris visited the team and gave a speech before they went to France.
The four-time NBA champion explained that he wants the best for his kids, family and the future. He even shared a reel showing alleged racism from Donald Trump during his campaign.
"What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!" James wrote.
Donald Trump will be sworn back into office on Jan. 20, 2025. It will be at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
