Biohacking expert explains how LeBron James is defying aging through Red Light Therapy: "Helps your cells work better"
Despite getting ready to turn 40 next month, LeBron James still finds himself competing at a high level. Recently, a biohacking expert opened up on the practices the 20-time All-Star goes through to keep his body in good condition.
Back in 2016, Bill Simmons reported that LeBron spends over a million dollars a year on his body. The superstar forward was asked about this in the "Starting 5" documentary but refused to confirm an exact number.
Among the practices LeBron James goes through behind the scenes is one called "Red Light Therapy." It consists of him simply sitting in a room filled with low-level wavelengths of red light. The New York Post interviewed an expert on the practice, who said its primary benefits is helping reduce aging.
“This helps your cells work better and reduces inflammation, which is a major cause of aging,” Dave Asprey added.
“LeBron focuses a lot on recovery, which is crucial if you want to perform at your full power and live a long time.”
In the midst of his 22nd season, LeBron is still one of the most impactful players in the NBA. Through his first eight games, the LA Lakers star is averaging 24.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists.
LeBron James accomplish rare stat with performance vs Memphis Grizzlies
All the work LeBron James puts in on his body is paying dividends, as he continues to win his battle with Father Time. Earlier this week, he put on a performance that helped him accomplish an extremely rare stat.
On Wednesday night, the LA Lakers found themselves matched up with the Memphis Grizzlies. They suffered a 17-point defeat despite a strong performance from their star forward.
In 35 minutes against the Grizzlies, LeBron James posted a stat line of 39 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Most of his damage came from beyond the arc, knocking down six of his 11 attempts. With these numbers, LeBron became the youngest and oldest player to score at least 35 points and hit at least five threes.
LeBron became the youngest player to accomplish this during his rookie season just before his 19th birthday. As a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he notched 36 points and shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc on December 19, 2003, against the 76ers.
LeBron's performance against the Grizzlies is among his best performances of the season thus far. Arguably his best outing came against the Sacramento Kings when he recorded a triple-double (32 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists).
LeBron and the Lakers had a strong start to the year but now find themselves at .500 with a 4-4 record.
