"Birthing 3 children has caused me to lose brain cells" - Giannis' wife Mariah Antetokounmpo hilariously reacts to 2023-2024 mix up
Giannis Antetokounmpo's wife Mariah wasn't afraid to admit her blunder in a funny conversation with the Milwaukee Bucks superstar. Mariah, who married the two-time NBA MVP last month in Greece, had a hilarious reaction to mixing up the years.
In a post on Instagram stories, the former Rice University volleyball player shared a screenshot of her conversation with Giannis. She thought it was 2023 and Giannis had to correct her, which was followed by a couple of laughing emojis.
Mariah replied:
"I'm sorry if you can't tell birthing 3 children has caused me to lose brain cells because I thoroughly thought it was 2023 lol."
She captioned it:
"I don't if I should be embarrassed or concerned lol...."
Giannis and Mariah Antetokounmpo have three children together - sons Charles and Maverick, born in 2020 and 2021, respectively, and daughter Eva Brooke, born last year. The couple began dating in 2014 but got married on Sept. 1 this year in Giannis' native Greece.
According to EuroHoops, the ceremony was very private and wasn't covered by the press. Milwaukee Bucks teammate Khris Middleton served as Giannis' best man. Some of the high-profile guests in attendance included LeBron James, Serena Williams and Jrue Holiday.
Several former and current Bucks teammates and team owners were also invited, as well as Greece basketball legend Vassilis Spanoulis and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The couple's wedding was a three-night event that started with a "White Party" on the first night followed by a "Nigerian Night," which paid home to the Bucks star's heritage.
The final night was the wedding ceremony as "The Greek Freak" and Mariah became husband and wife.
Giannis Antetokounmpo opens up about his wedding and honeymoon with Mariah
Speaking to reporters on Monday during the Milwaukee Bucks' Media Day, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about his wedding and subsequent honeymoon. He acknowledged that their marriage was due and was very happy with the "activities" after it.
"I'm really happy that we were able to get this done, he said (as per Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.) "Been a long time. I've been feeling some heat for a long time. But yeah, I was happy our friends, loved ones came to support us.
"And you said what was my favorite part from the wedding? I think the wedding night. After the wedding. That was my favorite part."
The Milwaukee Bucks enter the season following a disappointing end to the 2023-24 campaign. The Bucks rebuilt their depth this offseason by adding players like Taurean Prince, Gary Trent Jr. and Delon Wright.
They are experienced role players who could be difference makers in a competitive Eastern Conference.
