Bismack Biyombo on Michael Jordan facing Hornets players: "He would come into practice and... just kill them"
Michael Jordan, who is considered by many to be the greatest of all time, has owned the Charlotte Hornets since 2010. But apparently, Jordan also owned his players during practice in games of one-on-one. Former Hornets center Bismack Biyombo recollected his time in Charlotte and MJ's skills well into retirement.
In an interview with Dana Scott of The Arizona Republic, Biyombo shared his experience playing for "His Airness" from 2011 to 2015 and 2018 to 2021. The Congolose big man told the story of Jordan used to play one-on-one against players during practice or after games.
"Mike is Mike, man," Biyombo said. "I've seen him play one-on-one with players after the games, and one by one was taking them out. So this was probably I think seven, eight years ago. He would come into practice and just play one-on-one with players and just kill them, 100 percent. I (didn't) think he could move like that."
Bismack Biyombo added that he has a strong relationship with Michael Jordan. Biyombo was drafted seventh overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 2011. He left in 2015 as a free agent, but was traded back to the Hornets in 2018. He spent seven seasons in Charlotte, helping the team make the playoffs once in 2014.
"He's always there to give advice to players and stuff," Biyombo said. "It's somebody that I always know that I could reach out to if I need any advice whether you're with their team or you’re playing for another team."
Biyombo left the Hornets once again after the 2020-21 season. He joined the Phoenix Suns in January 2022 and has become a backup center for them. He's averaging 3.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 39 games this season.

Stephen Jackson confirms Michael Jordan taking on his players in practice
Stephen Jackson played for the then-Charlotte Bobcats for a couple of seasons from 2009 to 2011. Jackson confirmed that Michael Jordan, who became the team's majority owner in 2010, once teamed up with bench players in practice to help beat the starters.
"Stack Jack" told the story on the "Million Dollaz Worth of Game" podcast last year. He explained that MJ was angry about the team's performance and just joined scrimmage to teach them a lesson.
"He gets on the second team in practice," Jackson said. "And we lose! This was in 2010. ... He scored a couple points, and to the point where he talked so much s**t afterwards, he grabbed the ball and went and dunked one on the way out. True story."
