"Boomers are idiots": Mark Cuban lays bare thoughts on the role of Gen Z in shaping AI potential in future
Aside from being one of the most known NBA owners, Mark Cuban has had a successful career in the business world. During an interview, he shared his thoughts on one of the main talking points in the technology sector right now.
Earlier this week, Cuban discussed a wide range of topics with Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show." Among the things the reputable entrepreneur touched on was the advancement of AI.
Like all things, Mark Cuban expects AI to grow in positive ways in the future. However, he expects the charge to be led by Gen Z. During his rant, Cuban even took a slight jab at his own generation.
"I think we'll learn and we'll evolve, and the same thing will happen with AI," Cuban said. "There is going to be points in time where it's f***** up, and people are using it."
"But over time, particularly with Gen Z. Gen Z is a different beast. Boomers are idiots. We went from sex, drugs and rock and roll to Fox News. It doesn't get any worse than that."
After owning the Dallas Mavericks for nearly two decades, Cuban decided to take a step back in 2023. He's still a part of the ownership group but sold the controlling interest to the Adelson and Dumont families.
Mark Cuban is looking to keep the Mavericks in Dallas
In a few years, the Dallas Mavericks will have a big decision to make regarding their location. According to reports, their lease with the American Airlines Center is set to expire in 2031.
With the Mavericks' new ownership group having close ties to Las Vegas, speculation has arisen about the franchise possibly moving. In recent years, the city has been brought up as the frontrunner when it comes to NBA expansion. That said, Mark Cuban said during an interview last week that the Mavs aren't going to be relocating.
"We're not going anywhere," Cuban said.
After his strong statement, Mark Cuban was asked about a new arena possibly being built for the Mavs. If that's the case, he expects it to remain in Dallas city limits.
"That's the goal," Cuban said. "If something crazy happens, you never know, right? But the goal is definitely to stay within the city."
Given the current state of the franchise, Dallas should be trying to hold on to the Mavericks. Even though they lost to the Boston Celtics, they still reached the NBA Finals. Moreover, the roster has an interesting newly formed big three of Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson.
