Boston Celtics Injury Report (Dec. 1): 3 starters in jeopardy of missing marquee matchup
The Boston Celtics will cross swords against the Cleveland Cavaliers in a marquee matchup featuring two of the league’s top teams. The Cavaliers currently lead the Eastern Conference standings with a 17-3 record, while the Celtics sit in second place with a 16-3 record. Both teams have dropped just three games this season, highlighting their dominance.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two powerhouses. In their first matchup on Nov. 19, the Celtics ended Cleveland's impressive 15-game winning streak with a thrilling 120-117 victory.
Cleveland will be eager to avenge that narrow loss to the defending champions, while Jayson Tatum and the Celtics will aim to extend their current seven-game winning streak to eight. However, Boston faces a potential hurdle as three of their key starters are battling injuries, with their availability for the game still uncertain.
Veteran guard Jrue Holiday is managing right adductor tightness after playing in the Celtics’ 138-129 win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday.
Kristaps Porzingis is also listed as "questionable" due to knee injury management. The versatile center logged 25 minutes against the Bulls, contributing 21 points.
Guard Derrick White is another concern, battling a right foot sprain. He played in the previous game as well, recording 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Additionally, veteran Al Horford is dealing with a left big toe sprain, further adding to the team’s injury challenges.
