“Boys are beefing at 5 am”— NBA fans turn in hilarious reactions as Steph Curry unfollows Jaylen Brown on X
Future Hall of Famer Steph Curry reportedly unfollowed Boston Celtics star and reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown this week on X, formerly known as Twitter. NBA Alerts (@theNBAalert) quickly notified fans of the surprising move. It comes ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, where Brown and the Boston Celtics will look to go back-to-back as NBA champions.
It also comes on the heels of the reigning Finals MVP being hacked earlier in the week. Shortly after former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier had his account hacked as part of a cryptocurrency scam, Brown found himself in the same boat.
Following a repost Brown made on Sept. 2 regarding his new song with A$AP Ferg, his account began making numerous posts that signaled to fans something was wrong. In addition to promoting various cryptocurrencies, Brown's account also used a number of profanities aimed at fans and other social media users.
While Poirier has been able to regain access to his account, it appears as though Brown has not, leading some fans to speculate that the hack is the reason Curry unfollowed Brown.
"The boys are beefing at 5 am," one fan wrote in response.
"Who does he think he is???" another added.
"Weren’t they literally working out together ??????" one questioned.
While some provided context to the situation, explaining that Brown's account has been hacked for a week now, others were seemingly unaware:
"Whole nba hates Jaylen," one wrote.
"jb a corny ass dude tbh same with tatum," another added.
"Beef," one simply wrote.

Last year, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors struggled to find their rhythm throughout the regular season. In addition to Draymond Green playing in just 55 games, notable Golden State "Big Three" member Klay Thompson struggled to find consistency.
Eventually, Thompson played his way onto the bench, with Brandin Podziemski making his way into the starting lineup. After a hard-fought 82-game season, Curry and Golden State were eliminated in the play-in tournament, ending their championship hopes.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, Curry is well aware that many are doubting him and the Warriors. In addition to the loss of Thompson, the franchise didn't make any blockbuster acquisitions, raising questions about whether Curry can keep the team afloat.
In an interview with People, the point guard explained:
“I love the fact that people don't think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they're picking in the West, and I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success — that gets me going.
"And obviously coming off of this Olympic experience, I'm trying to channel that energy all year."
After a sensational showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where his play fueled Team USA to victory in back-to-back games, it will be interesting to see if the four-time champ can lead Golden State to another postseason berth.
