“Keep his dad fully engaged" - NBA insider believes Bronny James’ key contribution to Lakers is to keep LeBron James’ “energized”

ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst has a unique suggestion for LA Lakers rookie Bronny James for Halloween. On Sunday, the Lakers played their second preseason game, against the Phoenix Suns.

That was also the same game where fans got to see James and his father, LeBron James, share the court for the first time.

Bronny played 13 minutes against the Suns where he also got to run down the court with his father. He only had one attempt from the field and grabbed two rebounds. The older James, on the other hand, had 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Following the 118-114 loss of the Lakers, Windhorst joked about what Bronny should dress up as for Halloween.

"LeBron is famous for holding Halloween parties, inviting all of his teammates," Windhorst said. "I think Bronny should dress up as his dad for Halloween.

But on a more serious note, Windy talked about how Bronny James can contribute to the Lakers and his dad.

"Bronny, his biggest contribution to this season to the Lakers is energizing his father. His job this year is to get better in the G-League, probably. But also to keep his dad fully engaged because that's worth its weight in platinum and so far it's working."

During the Lakers' Media Day, the four-time champion expressed his thoughts on playing with his son. James said that playing with the younger players has given him "a lot of life," and playing with his son increases the feeling.

"It’s pretty awesome," James said. "It gives you a lot of life. It gives you a lot of life, especially when you’re around (other) young guys... So to be able to be alongside him, he’s 19 years old, (will) be 20 soon in October — it just gives you some more life (along with) the rest of the young guys on the team, so it’s awesome."

Lakers head coach "thrilled" to coach Bronny James and his dad

Lakers head coach JJ Redick gave the fans what they wanted last night after allowing Bronny James to play with his father. Redick teased fans before the game but reportedly informed the father-son duo before the game started.

"I'm thrilled that I get to be a part of this. I really am,"Redick said. "It’s cool as a basketball fan. I think it speaks to LeBron’s longevity, but also his competitive stamina that he’s able to still be doing this in Year 22. It speaks to the work that Bronny has put in to get to this point and really just the fatherly care and love, and certainly the motherly care from Savannah as well."

Fans look forward to the next time Redick will have the duo share the court again. It will be an even more memorable occasion when it occurs during the regular season.
