Bronny James Stats Tonight: Lakers’ $7.9 million rookie’s struggles continue in 2024 NBA Summer League
LA Lakers rookie guard Bronny James continues to have a difficult time in the NBA Summer League. All eyes were on James as the Lakers took on the Miami Heat for his second game of the competition.
James recorded three points, five rebounds and three steals, while shooting 1-of-3 from the field and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. Defensively, he played better as he had two steals and three blocks. The point guard stayed on the floor for 28 minutes. The Lakers lost to the Heat, 80-76.
James finished his first Summer League game against the Sacramento Kings with four points on 2-of-9 shooting from the field. While he was aggressive in making shot attempts, his shots weren't going in.
Fans waited to see him in action in the Lakers' second game, which was against the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, the young prospect didn't get to play as he had knee swelling.
The Lakers signed James to a four-year rookie deal worth $7.9 million. According to reports, his deal has a guaranteed $5.4 million and he cannot be traded until Dec. 15, 2025. The last year of his deal will be a team option.
Given that he signed a good deal for a second-round pick, the team expects him to produce well on the floor.
The next Summer League game for the Lakers will be on Friday against the Houston Rockets.

Fans react to Bronny James' airball
Since getting drafted by the Lakers, fans have paid attention to all the updates on Bronny James. Now that the Summer League has started, the attention has been on the young guard. However, he has struggled to satisfy everyone with the way that he's played.
In the Lakers' recent game against the Heat, a clip of James shooting the basketball during a deadball possession went viral. It went viral for the wrong reason as he airballed the shot.
Fans couldn't control themselves and they trolled the former USC guard.
"Why would the lakers draft this dude 😭," one fan complained.
"Should’ve followed MJ sons path. He’s gonna cry to sleep everyday unfortunately," another fan chimed in.
"Lakers fans said bronny would help the lakers get a ring," a fan recalled.
Other fans decided to step in and defend the youngster.
"I have never seen this much hate for a kid in my life," one fan said.
"Nah yall got this n***a under a THICK microscope lmaooo," another fan defended.
"Ain’t not way yall analyzing every single thing this man doing lmao," a fan said.
Given that he's the son of one of the great players in the league, critics will carefully observe his every move.
