"Bronny on team Latina": LeBron James' son whips fans into frenzy after being spotted with woman in Paris
LeBron James and his son, Bronny, are set to make NBA history by being the first father-and-son tandem to play on the same team. Before the 2024-25 season commences, Bronny attended his father's quarterfinal win over Brazil (122-87) on Tuesday.
An image of his appearance at the Paris Olympics was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by user PurpGold (@PurpGolded). Bronny is the latest to arrive in Paris, following her mother Savannah and sister Zhuri. The mother-daughter tandem was spotted alongside the Lakers star in the Olympic women's volleyball match on August 2.
In response to the post, fans were quick to react as the six-foot-two guard was seen alongside a woman.
"Bronny on team Latina, he officially stamped in my book now," said @Ants_Revenge.
"Perhaps I was too harsh on you," said @shesworthsaving.
Bronny was selected by the LA Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, using the 55th pick. New Lakers coach JJ Redick said in a July interview with SiriusXM NBA Today that the team's looking at Bronny as a development player.
"He's certainly going to spend time with the Lakers. He will spend time as well in the G League, you know, as we sort of build out our player development program, he's going to be an important part of that," Redick said.
Despite his offensive struggles in summer league play, Bronny showcased his promising defensive versatility on the court with his length and quickness. In the Summer League, he posted 8.8 points (35.0% shooting, including 15.8% from beyond the arc) and 3.5 rebounds per game.
LeBron James talked about holding his son and Lakers teammates to a high standard
There is a level of intrigue associated with LeBron James and the Lakers in the upcoming regular season. Despite having his son on the same team, the 20-time NBA All-Star assured fans that he won't treat him any differently than how he treats his teammates. He discussed this in an interview with Craig Melvin on TODAY that aired on July 11.
"We have one common goal on the floor," James said. "and that's to win that game and get better every day... I probably will hold him at a higher standard because I want him to be great. I want him to be as great as he can be. But at the end of the day, it won't be no shortcuts. I don't hold anybody to shortcut standard when it comes to the game of basketball."
James will enter his 22nd NBA season this year, while his son enters his first. Even so, there will be no favorites and the game will remain business as usual for the superstar veteran.
