"Called out his team for being a**": NBA fans react to Bam Adebayo shouldering Heat's defense with undrafted players
Bam Adebayo has expressed his desire to be recognized for his defensive prowess. In a recent interview during his Team USA endeavors, Adebayo was seen to be a little salty about the Defensive Player of the Year award. He claimed that the past winners had All-NBA caliber players around them while he was maintaining a top-five defense in the league with a group of 'undrafted' players.
"It’s me and a lot of undrafted dudes, and we still have a top-five defense. These other guys have All-NBA dudes (around them). Some of it is, they don’t really care about us and that’s fine. I think they should pay attention to consistency because being top five DPOY, I think I have the longest streak of All-Defensive teams"
The NBA fans quickly took notice of Adebayo's statements and expressed their opinion on the Heat star's subtle diss on the DPOY winners and his team. They flooded the comment section on X with their thoughts on the matter.
One fan highlighted Adebayo's sneak diss on the Miami Heat.
"Bam just called out his team for being a**."
Other fans joined the fray and expressed their opinions on Adebayo's statements.
"I see no lies told when reading this come on nba step up and reward the man," one fan said.
"It’s true. Bam puts the defense on his back," another fan said.
"He’s right. Most underrated player in ball," one fan expressed.
While some fans took Bam Adebayo's side, appreciating him and showing their support, others criticized the Heat star.
"when is a miami player not crying about being a loser?" one fan added.
"My brother in Christ stop crying constantly about awards you don’t deserve," another fan said.
Bam Adebayo held down the fort for the Miami Heat pretty well last season. He had 10.4 rebounds, 0.9 blocks and 1.1 steals.
Bam Adebayo shares the players he is excited to play with on Team USA
Bam Adebayo named two players he is excited to play with. In a video uploaded on Instagram and later posted on X by another user, Adebay shared that the player he was looking forward to playing the most on Team USA were Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid.
"I am gonna say Joel and AD. Cuz I've never been put in the four man position," Adebayo said.
The Heat star's reason for playing with Embiid and Davis were pretty peculiar. He expressed his desire to play at number 4, which is a power forward as he had never played in that position. So playing with Embiid and AD would free him from post responsibilities and allow him to explore that position.
