Cameron Brink makes Steph Curry's feelings known on star-studded Unrivaled league
The LA Sparks' Cameron Brink is the latest WNBA star to sign up for the Unrivaled 3x3 Women's Basketball League. She will take the wild-card spot of the Lunar Owls, the league announced on Tuesday.
In her interview with People, the former Stanford University stalwart said she asked the thoughts of four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry regarding the trailblazing league.
"When the league was just forming, we did chat about it—and yeah, I think Steph is in full support of it," Brink told People.
"He thinks it's a great idea and he knows I love the round three basketball," Brink added.
The Golden State Warriors star is Cameron Brink's 'godbrother.' Curry and Brink are not biologically related, but both their parents have a deep friendship that led to Cameron's parents being the godparents of the Curry children and Steph's parents being the godparents of Cameron.
Brink further commented:
"It's just going to be completely different and I think it's really going to aid people with their skills, everything. So yeah, [Curry] thinks it's a really cool thing."
Unrivaled is cofounded by WNBA stars Minnesota Lynx's Napheesa Collier and New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart.
Cameron Brink adds to the list of stars at Unrivaled
As a member of Lunar Owls, Cameron Brink will play alongside Collier, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Natasha Cloud, Allisha Gray, and Shakira Austin.
"It was honestly a really easy yes. [I'm] just honored that they offered me a spot and an opportunity. I'm really excited and super grateful," Brink told People about joining Unrivaled.
"It'll be really a huge year of growth for me — so, I'm really excited," Brink added.
Unrivaled will feature six teams and boasts a star-studded roster. Notable players part of its inaugural season include DiJonai Carrington, Marina Mabrey, Chelsea Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Copper, Jackie Young, Angel Reese, and more.
According to reports, 2024 Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark was also invited by the league but has declined to play.
While Cameron Brink is already on the official roster, she is still sidelined by an ACL injury and will make her league debut in 2026.
"Obviously I won't be playing, but I will be supporting full-fledged," Brink declared, adding, "It's just a really great way to train in a different way and build up your skill, not playing five-on-five."
Each team is composed of six players, with a coach. The coach list is headlined by WNBA legend and Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon and veteran NBA assistant coach Phil Handy. Handy has been notably part of three NBA championship teams as an assistant.
