"Can't wait to coach you, man": Lakers coach JJ Redick extends warm welcome to Bronny James in wholesome BTS clip

The LA Lakers finally selected Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The young guard was surrounded by rumors and speculation leading to the big day, but the Lakers got him amid controversy involving his agent, Rich Paul.

Bronny will now share touches with his father LeBron in the NBA, forming a terrific duo, and will be coached by a rookie coach in JJ Redick. A video shared by the Lakers' X account shows Rob Pelinka and the retired sharpshooter welcoming Bronny to the organization, showing their excitement to work with the 19-year-old player.

"Hey Bronny, you got Rob Pelinka here and coach Redick. I think, first and foremost, you've worked incredibly hard, man. You've put in a ton of work," Pelinka said.
"And when we had lunch up at the facility for your workout, we talked about your work ethic and that means a lot to us. I think second to that, you're a player of high character and a person of high character, and that is valued at the Lakers."

Reddick said:

"Bronny, this is JJ. I just wanted to say congrats, man. Your hard work's paid off. You're gonna have a long NBA career and I can't wait to coach you, man."

Bronny James and his father could become the first father-son duo to play at the same time in the NBA, and the best part of it is that they'll be teammates. LeBron James said it before that it was one of his dreams to share the court with Bronny and he's now about to fulfill it.

This was major news for Bronny and the James family. So much so that the player was recorded chocking up when his name was called as the Lakers' selection at 55. A short clip shows his reaction while people around him celebrate and an emotional Savannah James gives him a Lakers hat.

This whole process was subjected to criticism since Bronny never said where he wanted to play. This video shows that going to the Lakers meant a lot to him and he's happy to play alongside his father.

Bronny James isn't considered a future superstar, but he has the traits and the work ethic to become someone important in the NBA for many seasons.
