Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony was seen with his ex-wife, La La, as they showed up to support their son, Kiyan, at the 2024 SLAM Summer Classic on Wednesday.
Kiyan was invited to participate together with some of this generation's rising high school basketball stars. This included AJ Dybantsa, Caleb Wilson, Chris Cenac, Meleek Thomas, Nate Ament and Brayden Burries. Other hoopers who played in the event were Jacob Wilkins (the son of NBA legend Dominique Wilkins), Miikka Muurinen and TikTok star Jake West.
Melo and La La weren't the only big-named celebrities in the event that was held at Rucker Park. Three-time Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford and famed basketball trainer Chris Brickley were also present.

Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan, went one-on-one against Bones Hyland
During the summer, NBA players work endlessly to improve their game; and LA Clippers guard Bones Hyland is one of those who has taken advantage of the free time.
In a video that was posted on X (formerly Twitter), Hyland can be seen playing against Kiyan in a 1v1 setting. The prospect didn't back down and often forced the NBA player to go on defense.
It was a great workout for the aspiring 17-year-old basketball star that could help him outperform the competition at his level.

Carmelo Anthony lauds Steph Curry on his podcast
Melo went to Paris, France with his son, Kiyan, to support Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics. While watching the basketball games, Melo looked closely at how Stephen Curry worked on the court.
This year's Olympics marked Curry's first and only participation in the tournament. However, he still established himself as one of the greatest players in the league and that yielded a compliment from the former New York Knicks star. Melo spoke highly of Curry in his podcast, "7PM in Brooklyn."
"He's the greatest shooter I've ever seen. He's a hell of a player. He is a great player... He's one of the greatest players to ever grace this game. I don't think we probably will ever see this again. Let's appreciate this window of what we have with Steph," he said.
Curry's greatness helped Team USA win the gold in Paris, an achievement that Anthony is quite familiar with as he won three Olympic gold medals during his career. He was part of USA's Olympic roster from 2004 to 2016, and played 19 seasons in the NBA.
