Carmelo Anthony's ex LaLa Anthony shout out Bronny James upon Lakers draft selection: "So proud of you"
The eyes of basketball fans were on Bronny James for weeks heading into the 2024 NBA Draft. He was unquestionably the most intriguing prospect leading into the said event. Although he was expected to land in the second round, the thrill of which team would pick him reached fever pitch on Thursday.
As many had predicted, the former USC guard eventually fell into the hands of the LA Lakers. Rob Pelinka, the team’s GM, and new coach JJ Redick did not wait long before handing their choice. James Jr. was going to Hollywood to play with his father, LeBron James.
Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife LaLa Anthony promptly got on Instagram to send a simple message:
“Congratulations @bronny
"Soooo proud of u!!!!!"
Although the New York Knicks legend and the actress were divorced in 2021, the two remain close to Bronny James. The “BMF” star still has a close relationship with LeBron James and his wife Savannah James so her greeting on social media wasn’t surprising.
In 2022, LaLa Anthony saw James Jr. go up against her son Kiyan Anthony in a highly anticipated game. The showdown between James’ Sierra Canyon and Anthony’s Christ the King School happened 20 years after their respective fathers squared off.
During the game, Anthony and Bryce James did not see much action as they were still sophomores going up against the varsity. Bronny James, though, had a big night, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife also praised the eldest of the James siblings for his performance during that game.
Two years later, LaLa Anthony is again giving James Jr. his flowers, this time for making it to the NBA.
Carmelo Anthony and his former wife LaLa Anthony also support Bronny James’ younger brother Bryce James
It isn’t just the recently drafted Bronny James that former couple Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Anthony support. They have also shown love to Bryce James over the years.
Last month the Anthonys, met LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, to root for Kiyan Anthony and Bryce James in an AAU game. The teens competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) for players aged 17 and under.
Although Bryce played for a different team but under the same conference as Kiyan’s group, Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Anthony also supported the younger James.
With the way they connect with the James family, it wasn’t surprising that the former couple were also thrilled for Bronny James. Expect them to continue supporting James Jr. and his father as they compete against the best teams in the NBA.
