Over the course of his 20-year career, LeBron James has amassed a great many accolades. With multiple NBA titles, MVP awards and All-Star selections, LeBron James has already established himself as among the greatest to play the game.

However, his latest achievement is arguably his greatest. James needed 36 points to overtake Abdul-Jabbar as the leading scorer in the NBA, and he achieved the feat late in the third quarter with a fadeaway jumper.

While fans and celebrities alike have poured in to offer their congratulations to LeBron, James himself will be disappointed with the outcome of the game. As the Lakers come up with a loss in regulation, the game left a bad taste in the mouth for players and fans alike.

LeBron James fights to keep the LA Lakers' season alive

The night is undoubtedly a special one for LeBron James as he made NBA history. Unfortunately, the overall situation doesn't bode well for the LA Lakers.

They started off the fourth-quarter on a terrible note. Despite the high of LeBron’s milestone achievement in the third, the Purple and Gold failed to string together a solid run to close out the game against the OKC Thunder.

Coming up with a 130-133 loss by the end of regulation, the Lakers fell to 25-30 on the season. Rising concerns regarding LeBron’s health will also be worth taking note of moving forward as James left the game in the fourth with a foot injury.

James ended the night with 38 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Superstar teammate Russell Westbrook also contributed to the winning effort with 27 points and eight assists. Unfortunately, the Lakers saw a very passive display from superstar big man Anthony Davis, who only had 13 points on the night.

The Lakers’ display was plagued by poor shot selection and untimely turnovers. With 20 turnovers for the game, the Lakeshow practically wrote the script for their own loss. Additionally, their defense was also a wreck as OKC shot countless threes early in the game to put pressure on the team.

With only a handful of games left to play this season, the Lakers need every win they can get. James has his usual dominant self, but without the necessary help, it seems like a tall task for the Lakers to keep their season alive.
