Celtics' $134,400,000 guard reacts hilariously to potential $50 million fight with Jake Paul: "I'll swing that"
Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday had a pretty hilarious response when he was asked if he'd be willing to box Jake Paul for $50 million. While Holiday didn't give any sort of indication that he thinks he would win the fight, after seeing Paul's lackluster boxing match with Mike Tyson, he's confident that he can put out the same kind of effort.
During an appearance on Paul George's "Podcast P" show, Holiday was asked if he'd accept a boxing match against Paul if he was paid $50 million, and had seven months to train.
In response, he joked that he would have no problem taking a dive and letting Paul pad his record if it means he gets paid $50 million.
"50 mil? Might have to take that dive. That really put things in perspective, make it look realistic. ... That last little fight, I don't know nothing about nothing but I can do that. We could pump it up a little bit.
"You see, I'll take you through my whole training camp and all that. Once we get out there, Netflix will start messing up. So you see a lot of the fight, and I swing one time, and then he just hit me. Cool 50M."
Jake Paul's team eyeing four or five different possibilities for his next fight but Celtics guard Jrue Holiday likely isn't one of them
Despite the jokes on "Podcast P," Celtics guard Jrue Holiday hasn't spoken publicly about participating in an influencer boxing event for real. With the NBA season in full swing, and Holiday dealing with a knee injury that's sidelined him for back-to-back games, the odds of the Celtics guard fighting Paul seem pretty slim.
On the flip side, while Paul has made a career out of fighting older athletes who are past their respective primes, his team announced that he's done with influencer boxing. Now, the YouTuber is setting his sights on competing against those in the combat sports space.
Earlier this week, Paul's promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian spoke about Paul's next fight in an interview with The Sun, revealing there are four or five opponents they are targeting:
"In terms of his timeline to return, we've talked about anything from April to July. We have a number of venues held through that time period and then we're just having different discussions with potential opponents. So, I will say that we have not made an offer to any potential next opponent for Jake Paul.
"And there is probably four or five different names that we're considering at this point in time, but no one has received an offer of verbal written, indicative, nothing."
While there's been no real word on who the four or five potential opponents are, it seems unlikely that the Celtics guard is one of them.
