"Cheaper over there": Giannis Antetokounmpo jokes about getting married to long-time partner Mariah in Greece instead of USA
During Milwaukee Bucks' media day earlier this week, Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke about his wedding to his long-time partner Mariah Riddlesprigger in Greece last month. When asked if the wedding in his home country was special, Antetokounmpo joked that he opted to get married there because it was cheaper than the USA.
"It's cheaper over there," Antetokounmpo said. "A lot of people know that I'm kinda cheap ... You get more for your buck."
Further, when asked about the best food he ate at his wedding, Antetokounmpo shared that he didn't get to try anything.
"I didn't try the food," Antetokounmpo said. "The wedding, I realized, is for other people. Because you run up and down and you do things. You make sure everybody's having fun and everybody's situated. So, you don't really get to try the food."
The "Greek Freak" kept up the jokes when asked if he was breaking it down on the dance floor at his wedding.
"I don't remember, I was drunk," Antetokounmpo said. "No but, the wedding was an incredible experience, my wife was happy, I'm happy that we were able to do it."
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Mariah Riddlesprigger have been together since 2014. They have three children together: their two sons, Liam (4) and Maverick (3), and their daughter Eva (1).
As per Proto Thema newspaper, Giannis and Mariah opted for a private ceremony without media coverage. The couple reportedly also asked everyone involved in the wedding to sign confidentiality agreements to ensure their privacy.
