Chet Holmgren injury update: Massive development in Thunder's 2nd-best player's status as OKC brace for prolonged absence
Ahead of the OKC Thunder’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, NBA insider Marc J. Spears shared a significant update on Chet Holmgren’s recovery. Holmgren has been out of action since November 10 last year after suffering a brutal right iliac wing fracture during a game against the Golden State Warriors.
Initially, the Thunder announced that the 7-foot-1 center would be re-evaluated within 8-10 weeks. Now, over nine weeks later, the team has provided an update on their prized player’s status.
The former Gonzaga standout will remain sidelined for an additional three to five weeks as he continues his recovery process.
"Thunder say Chet Holmgren is continuing to progress in his return to play protocol and will be re-evaluated in approximately three to five weeks," Spears tweeted.
Chet Holmgren has recently been seen participating in light drills during the Thunder’s shootarounds ahead of games. Additionally, the versatile big man joined the team on their recently concluded four-game road trip, having moved on from using crutches.
Reflecting on his performance prior to the injury, Holmgren appeared in 10 games, averaging an impressive 16.4 points on 50.5% shooting from the field, including 37.8% from beyond the arc. He also contributed 8.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.6 blocks per game, showcasing his all-around impact on both ends of the floor.

"No way i just timed Chet’s return perfectly, i got tickets to wolves/thunder on the 24th of February, praying he plays that day," another user said.
