Chet Holmgren shares hilarious take on Thunder teammate during Greece vs Canada kerfuffle: "Everyone quick to walk away when Lu show up"

OKC Thunder big man Chet Holmgren had a hilarious reaction to a little commotion that took place involving his teammate Lu Dort in Canada's 86-79 victory over Greece in group play in the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Saturday.

The kerfuffle took place immediately after the final buzzer sounded, which saw OKC All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Team Canada jawing with Greek player Giannoulis Larentzakis. Players from both teams began circling around the two after.

The two were eventually separated. But just when everybody thought it was over, Dort had his own exchange of words with Larentzakis.

The commotion made the rounds on social media, garnering a lot of reactions from spectators, including from Chet Holmgren, who made light of the moment with his take on Dort's involvement.

He wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

"Everyone always quick to walk away when LU show up to the scuffle"

Gilgeous-Alexander led Canada to the hard-fought victory over Greece, with ample support from RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks and Dort, to get their Olympic bid off to a good start in Group A.

The NBA MVP runner-up last season was clutch late in the game to stave off a spirited chargeback by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece on their way to the win. He finished the game with 21 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

Barrett top-scored for Canada with 23 points, with Brooks adding 14 of his own and Dort adding eight, going 2-of-4 from deep.

Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, led all scorers with 34 points, to go along with five rebounds and two assists.

Canada next plays Australia, while Greece takes on Spain on July 30 in Lille.

Chet Holmgren believes Lu Dort deserves more credit as a defensive player

Chel Holmgren is a fan of the game of OKC Thunder teammate Lu Dort, particularly on the defensive end, which makes him a well-rounded player. He said that it is just unfortunate that the former Arizona State standout is not being given his due as a defender in the NBA.

The former second overall pick (2022) shared this with reporters back in May when asked if Dort was deserving of a spot in the All-NBA Defense Team.

Chet Holmgren said, by way of Thunder beat reporter Joel Lorenzi:

"I don't know what more he can do. He deserves more votes, recognition for that stuff."

Dort brings physicality to the Thunder and is tasked with guarding the opposing team's best perimeter player with a lot of success. Last season, he finished with averages of 10.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

His play suits well that of Chet Holmgren, who holds the fort in OKC in the perimeter. The 7-foot-1 former Gonzaga star had solid rookie numbers of 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 blocks, helping the Thunder finish with the best record in the Western Conference last season at 57-25.
