Chris Broussard claims Luka Doncic is on track to have better career than Kevin Durant: "Giannis is the best player in the world. Luka is second-best"

NBA analyst Chris Broussard is in Luka Doncic's corner. Broussard has finally agreed that Doncic is a better player than Kevin Durant, with the Slovenian star only ranking behind Giannis Antetokounmpo among the best players in the world.

Speaking on the latest episode of First Things First, Broussard told his co-panelists, Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes:

"Absolutely. He's better than Kevin Durant [now]. ... I don't think people will debate that, maybe some will coz Giannis is the best player in the world. Luka is second-best player in the world. Luka is a better all-around player."

Broussard then elaborated on the details of his argument and why he rates Luka Doncic ahead of Kevin Durant. He said:

"KD [Kevin Durant] is a better defender but it's not like KD was an all-league-type defender, right. He [Kevin Durant] is obviously a better shooter. I don't know that he's a better scorer. I mean they both average – Luka is at about 26.7 [ppg] for his career. KD is at 27.2 [ppg], shoots it a little more efficiently. [But] Luka is going to go up.
"Luka is just a better passer, controls the game more than KD does, a better rebounder. Look, obviously KD has the titles, but KD has never led his own team to a championship. I think Luka will – multiple times."
Is Luka on track to have a better career than KD?

Nick Wright says Luka Doncic has the chance to go down as the "best offensive player ever"

Chris Broussard's comments about Luka Doncic came a day after the Dallas Mavericks bested the Brooklyn Nets 96-94. Doncic played a pivotal role in the Mavs' win as he posted 36 points, six rebounds and six assists, shooting 50 percent from the field and making five-of-nine shots from deep.

Durant finished with 26 points and also shot fifty percent from the field, but missed two crucial free throws at the end that may have sent the game into overtime.

With his latest showing against the Nets, Doncic is leading the league in scoring. The three-time All-Star is averaging 36.0 ppg to begin the season and is currently the only NBA player to average more than 33.0 ppg for the 2022-23 campaign.

Doncic is also averaging 8.4 rpg and 8.3 apg while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor to go with his scoring average. This is why Nick Wright rates Luka Doncic so highly. He said on the latest episode of First Things First:

"I think Luka has the chance to go down as the best offensive player — ever. I think that's on the board. I think it would be disappointing if he's not one of the 12 greatest players ever... If he doesn't end up with a better career than Dr J [Julius Erving], Hakeem [Olajuwon], Shaq [Shaquille O'Neal], I'll be disappointed.
"There is no reason – we talked about Durant, Wildes. Durant's got one league MVP. Luka is going to tie that in five-and-a-half months. I would set Luka's career MVP total at – I'll set the over-under at 2.5 – I take over. I set the titles at 2.5 – it will be two or three."
