Chris Mullin believes Golden State Warriors will be a force to be reckoned with in playoffs
The Golden State Warriors may not look like a title contender at the moment, but former Warriors player Chris Mullins has immense faith in the team. Basing his take on the team in their spectacular win against the Memphis Grizzlies, Mullins expressed his thoughts on the Warriors' chances in the playoffs.
The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most inconsistent teams this season. Coming off an incredible title run, the Warriors fell off rapidly.
With form following function, the Warriors fell to the lower rung of the NBA early in the season. While they remained an incredibly competitive side at home, the Dubs were far from competitive on the road.
However, the Dubs managed to hold on for the most part as they featured a 15-18 record before returning to San Francisco for the holidays. However, this was where the Dubs found themselves in a favorable position.
With a 12-2 record at home before Christmas, the Warriors were more than formidable on their home turf. However, the notion of playing without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins posed a challenge.
Although the Warriors haven't been in top form as of late, former Warriors player Chris Mullins still had hope for the team following their Christmas Day win. Mullins highlighted the team's ability to compete in the playoffs when he joined the Warriors' pregame broadcast on NBC Sports Bay Area. He said:
"This is a big time win in my mind. Without Steph Curry, without Andrew Wiggins playing, Memphis coming in, talking all that talk, saying they have no concerns in the West. Well, you know what? They've got a big concern. They can't beat the Warriors minus their two best players."
"This was a big time win to me because it had a playoff feel to it. Because when the Warriors get to the playoffs, they can play their starters more minutes. There's no back-to-backs. And to me, in the West, for sure, there's not a team in the West can beat the Warriors in a seven-game series."
The game against the Memphis Grizzlies was laced with a lot of competitive fire for the Warriors. Considering the dynamic between the teams in the playoffs, it is safe to say that these games have a different vibe to them.
However, a minor oversight that needs to be considered is Golden State's performance on the road. Mullins made some solid points regarding the facets that benefit the Dubs. However, if the team doesn't have a favorable record going into the playoffs, they may not be as competitive on the road.
The Golden State Warriors must make the most of their homestand
The Golden State Warriors are on a bit of a roll at the moment. Coming off their win against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Dubs notched a necessary win against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night.
With two consecutive wins at home, the Dubs may be entering a kind of winning rhythm. Needless to say, this is beyond essential for the team at the moment.
With Andrew Wiggins a few games away from returning and Steph Curry progressing towards recovery, the Dubs need every win they can get. In this regard, they will benefit from having a solid schedule on their side.
With six more games at home before they hit the road again, the Golden State Warriors have a chance to improve to 23-18. This gives them some leeway before their key players return.
