Chris Paul's wife Jada Paul reacts as Spurs veteran makes waves with latest NBA record
At 39, veteran Chris Paul is making headlines for all the right reasons. The San Antonio Spurs star has put together an impressive resume over his 20-year career and hit another milestone on Sunday. Paul's second-quarter assist against the New Orleans Pelicans saw him become No. 2 on the NBA's all-time assist leaderboard. The Spurs beat the Pels 121-116 on the night.
Following the historic feat, the NBA star received a touching message of support from his wife, Jada Paul. She shared an image on her Instagram account of the big screen at the Frost Bank Center congratulating the point guard after he reached the 12,092 assists mark. She added a succinct two-word message in support of her husband.
"Congrats Honey," Jada captioned the image.
In the same Instagram story, Paul added a short video of the play where Paul secured his 12,092 career assists.
The special moment took place with just over eight minutes remaining in the second half. Paul delivered an inbound pass straight to Victor Wembanyama, who drilled a 3-pointer. The 16,840 fans at the Frost Bank Center were on their feet to acknowledge the legendary point guard after his latest achievement.
Paul's third assist of the night saw him overtake Jason Kidd's total of 12,091 and move up to second place in the assists leaderboard. Only the former Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton remains ahead of Paul with an incredible 15,806 assists.
Chris and Jada Paul first met in high school and were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. The relationship progressed over the following years, and the couple were married in 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have two kids together named Chris Jr. and Camryn.
Jada has been alongside Chris and supported him throughout his career. She would have been thrilled to see her husband cement his place in NBA history.
