Christian Wood Injury Update: Latest on Lakers forward's status for Game 4 vs Nuggets (April 27)
LA Lakers forward Christian Wood is questionable for Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs. This is the first time since February that Wood has been upgraded to questionable on the injury report. Wood has been out of the rotation since going through knee surgery in February.
The Lakers are facing the Denver Nuggets on April 27 in the elimination game in the Crypto.com arena. Wood’s probable return should be good news for the Lakers; however, whether he will play is still a big question.
Christian Wood's injury update
Wood was set to return for Game 3, but the Lakers were forced to play without him in their 11th consecutive defeat to the Denver Nuggets. He will participate in the shootaround, and if all goes well, he will most likely be part of the rotation in Game 4.
The Lakers have missed a player of Wood’s caliber on the floor. His presence on the floor not only gives the Lakers length on the floor but also an extra scoring option.
Purple and Gold have been struggling against the Nuggets in the rebounding category and Wood’s presence should make things better for Darvin Ham and Co.
What happened to Christian Wood?
After the All-Star break, the Lakers reported that Christian Wood was suffering from “left knee effusion”, a type of knee swelling. In the beginning, the Lakers said that they would check on Wood’s condition after two weeks.
However, almost after a month, Wodd underwent arthroscopic surgery as a part of his recovery. After the surgery, it was reported that Christian Wood would be out of the rotation for several weeks.
This season, Wood played 50 games for the Lakers and averaged 6.9 points per game, his lowest in the last five seasons, including his minutes. He shot 46.6% from the field and 30.7% from the three-point line.
Wood was one of the primary backups to Anthony Davis on the squad and played his role fairly well. In this series against the Nuggets, the Lakers have struggled on the glass and Wood would have been a great help with his spacing and scoring on the floor.
