"Come train with me" - Adrien Broner invites Anthony Edwards to join him for boxing training session
Anthony Edwards had a tough season playing basketball that started in October last year. He led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals, losing in five games to the Dallas Mavericks. “Ant-Man” only had a few weeks of rest before training camp for Team USA started.
Edwards’ basketball season ended following the Americans’ gold-medal campaign in the Paris Olympics. The All-Star guard, however, has stayed in shape playing another sport. Edwards shared on Instagram a video of himself boxing with a trainer.
Former world champ Adrien Broner promptly reacted to the basketball star’s post:
“Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh come train with me one day and I will train with you one day we can exchange”
Broner, a four-division title holder, is no longer the boxer he once was. In his fight against Blair Cobbs in June, he was knocked down in the second round before losing a unanimous decision. Despite the drop in form and performance, “AB” would still have plenty of things to teach Anthony Edwards should they decide to train together.
The Olympic gold medalist must have been boxing for some time. Considering the basketball player’s form and execution, he had to have been training for at least a few months. A session or two with Broner might help take his pugilistic game to a different level.
Anthony Edwards and Anthony Davis will walk Floyd Mayweather to the ring against John Gotti III
The clip showing Anthony Edwards boxing is a prelude to Saturday's boxing event in Mexico City. “Ant-Man” and Team USA teammate Anthony Davis will walk Floyd Mayweather to the ring against John Gotti III, per TMZ Sports. “Money Mayweather” often has celebrities accompanying him before fights, but it will be a first for both NBA stars to do the honors.
The bout is a rematch of the fight in June 2023 that ended with a no-contest decision. An ugly brawl happened after the referee stopped the match. Trainers and supporters from both camps entered the ring as Mayweather and Gotti continued to go after each other.
Fans who saw Edwards’ IG post will be more excited than ever to see him walk into the boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather.
