Conor McGregor's representative denies accusations of him raping Miami Heat fan during Game 4 of NBA Finals
Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Game 4 of the NBA Finals last week. According to reports, McGregor, who was at the game in Miami promoting his Tidl Sport recovery spray, assaulted the woman in a bathroom.
In letters obtained by TMZ, a woman alleged that the NBA and Miami Heat security forcibly separated her from her friend before then forcing her into a bathroom. There, she alleges that McGregor and his security guard were waiting.
In a written letter, she alleged:
"Security refused to let (the woman) exit or allow anyone else, including her friend, inside the bathroom."
The woman's lawyer claimed McGregor emerged from inside of a handicap stall "and shoved his tongue in the victim's mouth and aggressively kissed her."
After telling the former UFC champ she had to use the bathroom, he then allegedly forced her to perform oral sex with him before pinning her against the wall. She also alleged that he attempted to sodomize her before she was able to break free and escape.
McGregor has denied the allegations.
How Conor McGregor’s security allegedly played a role, and the aftermath
According to the report, the woman alleges that after escaping from Conor McGregor, the UFC star’s security held her purse hostage. After pleading with them for its return, she went to local authorities to report the assault.
Despite immediately going to the authorities to report the situation, TMZ is reporting that the woman isn’t looking to press criminal charges on McGregor or any of the security guards.
The written statement provided by the woman’s attorney indicates that rather than pressing criminal charges she is seeking settlement money from McGregor, the NBA, and the Heat.
While many hoped that the facts in the situation would emerge when potential accomplices were put on the stand, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Despite that, given the nature of the allegations, the NBA and the Miami Heat will likely conduct an investigation into the matter before proceeding.
McGregor, who is currently expecting his fourth child with his fiancé, Dee Devlin, has yet to publicly comment on the matter beyond the statement provided by his team. As fans continue to wait for news regarding his return to the Octagon, only time will tell how things play out.
