"Could've been the GOAT but he's addicted to weed": Fans react to Kevin Durant’s viral mixtape after Wiz Khalifa’s comment
Rapper Wiz Khalifa said Kevin Durant is one of the top players who smoked marijuana when he appeared on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay" on Thursday. Initially, Sharpe had no clue KD was a weed smoker, but Khalifa doubled down on his answer and said that the NBA star gets involved in it.
Other athletes have expressed interest in utilizing the herb recreationally besides Durant. In the NBA, players like J.R. Smith, Matt Barnes, Michael Beasley and others have been known to use weed. However, KD stands out for Khalifa, which is why he was name-dropped while he was on the show.
“KD,” Khalifa said (Timestamp: 6:02). “H**l yeah. KD’s with the weed, bro.”
After what the rapper said about Durant, a fan-made edit of the Phoenix Suns star was posted on TikTok. The edit gained traction and became viral.
However, fans had a different reaction to it and paid more attention to Durant's use of marijuana.
"Could've been the GOAT but he's addicted to weed. Sad," one fan said.
"Explains why he don’t be giving a f**k about our parlays. He be smoking that f**k it weed," another fan said.
"He got the most laid back game too," a fan said.
Other fans had more reactions to the viral edit.
"When they cut to the Texas highlights to match the lyrics>> Editor was in his bag," a fan said.
"Saving this in my phone my goat be high and giving n****s 30," another fan said.
"This edit is insanely tuff," one fan said.

Kevin Durant revealed everyone "smokes weed" in the NBA
The NBA has not conducted random drug tests for cannabis since the 2019-20 season. Since Adam Silver became the league's commissioner, weed has been an exemption, and players are no longer prohibited from using the drug.
The NBA and the NBPA agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement. In the new agreement, the drug has been removed as part of the league's banned substances. In July 2023, Kevin Durant said that everyone in the league consumes the drug.
KD went so far as to liken it to wine. The two-time NBA champion said that he enjoys consuming it, which is the simple reason why he uses the drug.
The NBA isn't the only league that has eased its policies on players' marijuana usage. Major League Baseball, the NFL and the Ultimate Fighting Championship have made changes in their policies in recent years.
