“Counting road wins this year” - Klay Thompson gets roasted for flexing four rings after Golden State Warriors lose 11th straight game on the road

Klay Thompson is a four-time champ for the Golden State Warriors. He has been to the NBA Finals for six consecutive seasons and is considered to be one of league history’s greatest shooters.

On numerous occasions, he’s been prone to flex his four championships when opponents have talked trash. Tonight, the shooting guard did the same against Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Fans quickly roasted Thompson for his gesture:

"counting road wins this year"

@BleacherReport that’s his only comeback whenever he plays terrible 😭
@BleacherReport Headline leaves out one small fact.. he’s doing it from the bench where he sits because his team is getting blown out 🤣🤣🤣
@BleacherReport What is that going to do when the defending champions can’t even win a road game 😭
@BleacherReport Look ar this clown, showing off Curry's rings 🤣

The "I've-got-four-rings-gesture" seems to have become Klay Thompson's go-to bounce-back move when the Warriors lose. He also did that to Devin Booker when they were walloped by the Suns earlier in the season.

Thompson must be taking a page out of the Kobe Bryant legend. "KB24" used to flex the same move when opponents tried to get into his head.

The Golden State Warriors have looked nothing like the defending NBA champs, particularly on the road. Their loss to the Grizzlies marked the 11th straight game they’ve lost away from Chase Center, a record under the Steve Kerr era.

Golden State’s latest defeat away from San Francisco brings their road tally to 7-29, the most losses in the entire NBA. The Bay Area team last won without their home fans on Jan. 30 against the OKC Thunder.

Klay Thompson and Steph Curry were cleared to play tonight, the second game of a back-to-back set, but the Warriors still lost. Golden State is in the midst of a five-game road trip and will have to head to Houston on Sunday and Dallas on Wednesday.

After the aforementioned games against the Rockets and Mavericks, they have games in Denver, Sacramento and Portland to close out the season.

Steve Kerr said after last night’s game that “something good is going to happen to this group.” Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors just lost to the Memphis Grizzlies without Ja Morant, their best player. The season is almost over, but the “turning around” on the road hasn’t happened yet.

Rewatching 4th quarter. Fatigue set in tough. Steph and Klay didn’t have any energy. Neither did Looney

Thompson and Steph Curry combined to hit 30 points on 11-32 shooting. Gambling to play them in back-to-back games didn’t just work. It failed miserably.

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors continue to live and die by three-point shots

For the second straight game, the Golden State Warriors rallied to give themselves a chance to win a game on the road. They did it by being aggressive in attacking the basket. The Warriors, again, abandoned that plan by hoisting ill-advised threes to get the win.

Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Jordan Poole all went this route late in the game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Last night, Steve Kerr defended his team by saying he’ll take his chances with his team’s shot selection with Curry, Thompson and Poole.

Warriors got back in the game by attacking the rim. Then just stopped and started chucking threes

Kerr’s assertion was understandable and will always be so considering he has two of NBA history’s deadliest shooters. However, the Warriors shouldn’t be satisfied with that after the success they have had in attacking the basket.

Golden State’s shooters, including Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Jordan Poole, combined to hit 13-35 from deep. Several of them were closely-contested shots that could have been turned into high-percentage attempts closer to the rim.

Forcing bad three-pointers instead of going for high-percentage shots, which gave them a chance to win the game, was bad decision-making. Something good may come out of it, but nothing that will consistently impact their play to overturn their misery on the road.
