"Crew has been separated": Anthony Edwards' GF Jeanine Robel 'heartbroken' after Karl-Anthony Towns' trade to the Knicks
Karl-Anthony Towns was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ franchise cornerstone when the team drafted Anthony Edwards No. 1 in 2020. Over the last two years, “Ant-Man” has steadily become the face of the franchise over “KAT.” Next season, the Timberwolves will undoubtedly be Edwards’ team following Towns’ trade to the New York Knicks.
Minnesota’s move to send the long-time Timberwolves center has shocked many, particularly the team’s fan base. Jeanine Robel, whose relationship with Edwards became public in the star guard’s rookie season, reacted to the trade.
Robel went on Instagram to share a story that she captioned with:
“I’m going to miss my friends this season! The crew has been separated. [broken heart emojis]”
In Anthony Edwards’ four seasons in Minnesota, Jeanine Robel has also formed close relationships with wives and girlfriends of Edwards’ teammates.
Jordyn Woods, Karl-Anthony Towns’ girlfriend, and Robel have been huge fans and supporters of each other. Woods even attended the baby shower for Edwards and Robel’s daughter this year.
“KAT” isn’t the only one from last season’s roster who will not return. Kyle Anderson, Troy Brown Jr., Monte Morris, Wendell Moore Jr., T.J. Warren and Shake Milton have taken their talents elsewhere.
Jeanine Robel has been with Anthony Edwards in the All-Star guard’s rise to stardom
Jeanine Robel has been Anthony Edwards’ biggest supporter even in his first year as a pro. Edwards lost the Rookie of the Year race to LaMelo Ball despite being the No. 1 pick in 2020. Amid the doubts and criticism, she was a constant presence on social media, encouraging and hyping up the former Georgia star’s accomplishments.
After four years, Robel can confidently say her boyfriend is now the Minnesota Timberwolves’ undisputed franchise leader. Before the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, Minnesota was a co-star team that looked up to its two leaders. Starting this season, “Ant-Man” becomes the face of the franchise.
Jeanine Robel said on Instagram that she will be missing her “crew.” It’s a loss that Anthony Edwards will also feel, particularly as he shares a deep bond with players he competed with.
Over the last two years, Anthony Edwards made it to the All-Star team and earned an All-NBA selection following the 2023-24 campaign. “Ant-Man” led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Eastern Conference Finals before helping Team USA win gold at the Paris Olympics.
Edwards’ teammates have changed over the years, but Robel has been steadfast with her support for her boyfriend.
