Dallas Mavericks Injury Report: Luka Doncic ruled out against San Antonio Spurs
Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is expected to miss his third straight game due to injury. Doncic is expected to miss the Mavericks' game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. The Mavs star suffered a non-contact injury to his thigh that has caused him to miss the past two games.
Kyrie Irving, Christian Wood and Tim Hardaway Jr. are all listed as questionable aside from Doncic. In their last game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Mavs' Big Three missed the game. They lost 104-88 on Monday and are expecting their stars to return as soon as possible.
Doncic has played 57 games this season, averaging 33.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.0 assists. He's also shooting 50.0%, including 34.9% from the 3-point area.
The Mavs need Luka Doncic before the postseason starts
The 2022-23 NBA season is almost over, and teams are getting ready for the playoffs. One of the teams that needs to come together is the Mavericks, and they are trying to execute better in close games with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the floor.
They haven't been an effective team since the trade deadline last month. In every close game, Dallas gets an advantage in closing the game. They have two of the best closers in Doncic and Irving, yet they continue to fail to convert and seal the win.
It's a mystery as to why the coaching staff hasn't figured out how to draw up plays to close games. Both Doncic and Irving are lethal closers, which is what separates them from the rest of the NBA. Having the two of them is a luxury, and coach Jason Kidd should figure things out before it becomes a failed experiment.
The Mavs are entering the 2023 playoffs as one of the most highly-anticipated teams. They have a rivalry against the Phoenix Suns, a potential team that could be their matchup in the first round of the playoffs.
