Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves player stats and box score for Oct. 29 | 2024-25 NBA season
The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves squared off on Tuesday for the first time since their encounter in the 2024 Western Conference Finals. The first quarter was all Anthony Edwards. The Minnesota star heated up for the Timberwolves as he notched double-scoring figures in the opening period with 24 points. His efforts led to him to a career-high for most points in any quarter.
The Mavericks had no response for Edwards as three of their stars remained dormant in the first quarter. Daniel Gafford stepped up and kept the game within reach with his eight points. The opening period ended with Minnesota securing an eight-point 34-26 lead.
Come the second quarter, Dallas pushed the pace a little bit and took advantage of Edwards' absence in the first few minutes. Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic slightly found their rhythm as they combined for 23 first-half points. Their efforts helped them regain a two-point 61-59 lead.
Despite Anthony Edward’s scorching hot performance in the first quarter, he was never able to carry it over to the second half. The third quarter had the Dallas Mavericks dominating the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kyrie Irving made things happen for the Mavs as he scored 16 third-quarter points.
With Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson struggling on offense, it’s fortunate for Dallas that Irving heated up. However, the Timberwolves didn’t back down easily as they tried to make a comeback late in the fourth quarter.
Ultimately, it was the Mavericks who came up with a 120-114 victory. Even though he struggled to find his shot all game, Doncic played a prominent role late in the fourth to keep Dallas’ lead alive. But it was Irving who took charge of the game overall.

Mavericks vs. Timberwolves: Recap
Kyrie Irving's His remarkable shooting is what helped the Dallas Mavericks come up with a tight victory on the road. Irving put up 35 points, five assists and four rebounds matched 75% accuracy from beyond the arc and 56.5% overall.
Trying to keep the game alive for Minnesota was Anthony Edwards, who scored 37 points. However, 24 of his total points came from the first quarter alone. Meaning to say, Edwards only scored 13 points for the remainder of the game, indicating his struggle to retake the lead.
It’s worth pointing out that “Ant-Man” dealt with minor problems with his left leg throughout the game. That could’ve been a detrimental factor in why he couldn’t follow up on his hot start.
