Dalton Knecht stats tonight: How did Lakers rookie fare against Hawks? (Dec. 6)
Dalton Knecht and the LA Lakers took on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Knecht came from a poor performance against the Miami Heat in the Lakers' last game. The rookie only put up two points but made up for through his defensive efforts with two steals and one block.
Going up against the Hawks, Knecht looked forward to making up for his underwhelming outing on Wednesday. In the first quarter, the Lakers rookie struggled to find his rhythm. He only made one 3-pointer out of three attempts. As expected, it was LeBron James and Anthony Davis who took over in the opening period.
In the second quarter, Dalton Knecht added two more points and only took one shot attempt. James and Davis continued to take over the game as the two stars ended the first half in double figures. LeBron finished with 17 points, while AD with 22 points to help keep the Lakers alive with a 64-64 first-half finish.
Come the third quarter, Knecht added five more points. He nailed one three-point bomb and managed to score two points inside the paint. The rookie and Rui Hachimura were the only two other Lakers players to hit double figures aside from James and Davis. As for the All-Star duo, they continued to hit their stride and finally came up with the lead towards the end of the period.
The fourth quarter had a wild conclusion as the game was sent to overtime. The Lakers struggled to stop the Hawks’ barrage of three-pointers. However, Atlanta also struggled to slow down the unstoppable duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The rookie Dalton Knecht didn’t contribute in the final period of regulation. Ultimately, the Atlanta Hawks pulled off a heartbreaking victory over the LA Lakers. Trae Young iced the game with a huge three-pointer to lead his team to a 134-132 win.

The Atlanta Hawks hosted the LA Lakers on Friday night. It was a rowdy night in the State Farm arena as the audience in attendance proactively supported the Hawks by heckling the Lakers players. The fans’ energies didn’t go to waste as Atlanta came up with a huge victory over LA in overtime.
It was a heartbreaking moment for the Purple and Gold, especially after LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for 77 points in an attempt to get their team back in the win column. James had a huge triple-double outing, adding 39 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
As for Davis, he had a big double-double game with 38 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and one steal. While it seemed like the Lakers could finally pull off a victory after losing two straight against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Miami Heat, LA struggled to stop Atlanta’s barrage of three-pointers.
