Damian Lillard quips at Giannis Antetokounmpo for making clever play vs Detroit Pistons

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a standout performer for the Milwaukee Bucks this season as they regain their form after an abysmal start. The Greek led his team to victory on Tuesday and a clever play earned him the plaudits of teammate Damian Lillard.

During the Bucks' 128-107 victory over the Detroit Pistons, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 28 points but it was his intelligent play that earned him the headline. Pump faking at the three-point line and drawing contact from Issaiah Stewart, the 29-year-old earned three free throws, which he subsequently converted.

Teammate Damian Lillard was impressed by the Greek's play and quipped him for his intelligence on Instagram. Sharing a picture of a smiling Antetokounmpo on their flight back from Detroit, Dame captioned the story:

"Fouled on a 3 and @giannis_an34 goes 3/3..... this is why."

Lillard and Antetokounmpo have forged a great understanding between them this season and kept the Bucks afloat during their horrendous start. The duo have averaged 32.9 and 25.9 points respectively, with the Greek international leading the league in offense with his figure.

Currently on a seven-game winning streak the duo will be hopeful that they can carry this run forward as they aim to go farther than the first round of the playoffs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a hot jump shooting night vs Detroit Pistons

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a great night draining his jump shots as the Milwaukee Bucks knocked out the Detroit Pistons from the NBA Cup.

Still unbeaten in the cup tournament, the Bucks were victorious by 21 points with Giannis and Dame scoring 28 and 27 points respectively. The 29-year-old was zoned in on the night, as he made ten of his 11 jumpers sinking buckets from every corner within the arch.

Those ten made shots were also his first ten attempts during the night, which meant he had a 100% shooting record before missing a 13-foot step back in the third quarter which lost him his 100% record.

Despite this, Antetokounmpo had a fruitful night at the Little Caesars Arena, and was impressive in his passing and defending, with seven rebounds and eight assists to his name, the most by any Bucks player. With the team currently on a seven-game win streak and fifth in the NBA standings, the Greek will be hopeful to keep this run going and remain injury free as he aims to win his second NBA title this season.
