Damian Lillard trains with Guinness World Record holder who did 4030 pull-ups in 24 hours
Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard was seen getting offseason training with David Goggins, renowned for pushing limits of physical endurance. Goggins is also a Guinness World Record holder for doing 4030 pull-ups in 24 hours.
Lillard took to Instagram to share a video of his training session with Goggins and shared a motivational message in the caption.
"If you always do what you’ve always done … you’ll always be where you’ve always been … Much love and respect @davidgoggins," Lillard captioned the post.
That comes after the 34-year-old guard previously told Jim Owczarksi of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that his age won't be a barrier that reduces his efficiency on the court.
"I’m not a player that’s breaking down. I live a clean, good, healthy life, so I can do it. I can do the same (expletive) I did two, three years ago. I can do it right now..."
While Damian Lillard put up stellar performances during his first campaign with the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 season, his efficiency took a significant dip.
The eight-time NBA All-Star averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.0 steals in the regular season, shooting 42.4% from the field and 35.4% from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists in his final season with the Portland Trail Blazers, shooting 46.3% from the field and 37.1% from deep. The 2022-23 season was also his most individually efficient season yet.
Damian Lillard says he doesn't get enough credit
On the 'Club 520' podcast, Damian Lillard opened up about not receiving enough credit for the performances he consistently puts up in the league. While discussing his place as one of the best shooters in NBA history, Lillard cited his consistency as a reason for why people may underappreciate him.
"They definitely don't talk about it," Lillard said. "They act like I don't be doing what I've been doing. This is going to be my 13th season...
"My time in the league, when I think about how many people have been very good over that time, it ain't been that many people that have been here the whole time, since I've been in the league, that just been doing it, like over and over and over. But I think people just get bored with consistency. And I ain't loud, but I've been doing it that long and winning."
Damian Lillard has cemented his name as one of the best shooters the game has ever seen. It's likely that he doesn't get as much praise, given that his contribution has not yet resulted in the overall success of his teams.
Lillard seems to be eager to change that narrative as he pushes his limits ahead of the next season where he will look to clinch his first NBA championship along with his star teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo.
