Davis' injury was unexpected and concerning, but there are a few that trusts it could be good for the team. An insider for the Los Angeles Times, Dan Woike, believes that Davis' foot injury could benefit the Lakers in some trade talks. "Another rival said that if negotiated properly, he felt the Davis injury could actually help the Lakers’ position in trade talks," Woike wrote. "The team’s sought leverage in talks since the summer, with much of the league viewing them as ‘desperate’ to make some kind of trade.

"That, plus the early-season timing of any talks, has kept the asking price really high. This executive thought a Davis injury of any real severity would give the Lakers leverage they haven’t had since the summer by giving them a very real reason to shut down talks and focus on the offseason."

The Lakers (13-18) are still trying to get back into contention despite being in the 13th spot in the Western Conference. With Davis, the team looked hopeful and managed to get some wins after a sluggish start. The 2020 NBA champion is averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks this season.

Losing The Brow isn't a good sign as LeBron James can't do everything on his own due to his age (38 by the end of the month). Russell Westbrook, meanwhile, isn't the same player he once was.

This season, Anthony Davis has done everything he could while he was healthy to try to get the team back in playoff contention. However, that won't be happening anytime soon as Davis is expected to miss at least a month. With that, the Lakers can focus on building a better team after this season.

It could be a hard pill to swallow for a LeBron team to miss the playoffs, but that's the reality of the Lakers. The team general manager Rob Pelinka assembled isn't good enough to compete in the post season, where teams ramp up their performances. Additionally, they haven't addressed their shooting problems over the summer.

One bright spot is that Westbrook is in the final year of his deal and could be used as a trade piece. Anthony Davis' injury is a good sign for the team to stop trying to be a title team, which they're not. They could use this time to decide on which moves could be beneficial for their future.
