DeMar DeRozan drops 2 words on Compton rapper's thoughts on Drake's antics during Raptors game
DeMar DeRozan has dropped a two-word reaction on a Compton rapper's opinion about popstar Drake's antics during a Raptors game. DeRozan and Drake are not on the best of terms right now, especially, after the midrange assassin was featured in Kendrick Lamar's hit Drake diss track, "Not Like Us."
The Kings star player was born in Compton and was supportive of Compton-born rapper Kendrick Lamar when he was involved in a beef with Drake.
The Sacramento Kings faced the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Saturday. Hitta J3, another Compton-based rapper, texted DeRoz, asking him if he would give Drake what he was looking for.
The Kings star had a two-word response to that question:
"On god!!!"
DeMar DeRozan started his NBA journey with the Toronto Raptors after the Canadian team drafted him as the 9th pick in the 2009 Draft.
Drake, being a Canadian rapper hailing from Toronto, did not like it when the player who played at his birthplace's team for nine years supported his opponent during his beef with Lamar.
To make matters worse, Lamar had mentioned DeRoz in the diss track "Not Like Us" and thanked Drake and the Raptors for letting the NBA star go as they did not deserve him. The Kings player also made a cameo in the music video for the hit diss track which now has over 166 million views on YouTube.
Drake takes shots at DeMar DeRozan live during the Kings-Raptors game on Saturday
The sour relationship between Drake and DeMar DeRozan is not one-sided. The popstar took shots at the Kings' star player on-air during the Kings vs Raptors game on Saturday.
Victor Baez clipped and uploaded a video on X, featuring the segment where Drake expresses his intentions of pulling down a DeRoz jersey if the Raptors ever decided to retire it.
"Yes, if you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself... is that what you're gonna ask?"
During his tenure with the Raptors, DeMar DeRozan made the NBA All-Star team four times and led his team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016. However, they were defeated by the Cleaveland Cavaliers with a 4-2 record.
His return to the Canadian city as a Kings player wasn't the best as the Kings fell short and lost the game with a final score of 131-128.
DeRozan did his job and led the scoring charts for the Kings. He netted in 33 points and collected three rebounds and dished out four assists.
