DeMarcus Cousins closes door on NBA return, looks ahead to next page in basketball journey

After being plagued with injuries over his final four NBA seasons, DeMarcus Cousins closed the door on an NBA return earlier this year, announcing he would not be returning to the league.

"Honestly, no. You know, I've had my time there," Cousins said in an interview with HoopsHype in February.
"There was a point where I was trying to make that happen, but the place I'm at in my life now, just everything I've got going on, just outside of basketball. I'm in a good place."

In his last NBA season, Cousins played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. Cousins appeared in 17 games for the Bucks before spending the remainder of the 2021-22 season with the Nuggets.

In 48 games, Cousins averaged 9.0 points and 5.6 rebounds, shooting 46.0% from the field and 30.3% from beyond the arc in under 15 minutes a night.

Cousins' ability to score efficiently, stretch the floor and rebound at a high level make him an enticing veteran option for some contenders in the NBA, but the 34-year-old big man is now looking forward to a new path in his basketball career.
