Dennis Rodman's daughter Trinity Rodman lovingly reacts to teammate's major personal announcement
Dennis Rodman's daughter and NWSL star Trinity Rodman shared a story on Instagram on Monday, reacting to her teammate's engagement. The Washington Spirit player responded to her teammate's major personal announcement in a loving manner and sent a 1-word reply.
The Spirit's Tara Mckeown shared a post on Instagram to announce her engagement to her long-time boyfriend. Sharing images of the proposal, the 25-year-old captioned the post with a short note:
"Easiest yes of my life, I can’t wait for a lifetime with you 🫶🏼," she wrote.
Trinity reshared the social media post on her story, captioning it with a 1-word note:
"Yup" and lovingly added heart-eyed emojis to the message.
Trinity and Tara joined the Washington Spirit in 2021. Rodman was drafted by the team as the second overall pick of the 2021 NWSL draft, becoming the youngest player to be drafted to the league at 18 years old.
McKeown, on the other hand, was selected as the eighth overall pick of the 2021 draft. The Spirit traded $100,000 in NWSL allocation money and its second-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft to Sky Blue FC to gain the eighth overall pick.
Trinity has been a revelation for the Washington side ever since her debut. Winning the NWSL title in her first season, the young star was nominated for the Ballon d'Or Feminin in 2022. Since then, the 22-year-old has made 82 appearances and scored 23 goals for the team.
Dennis Rodman and Trinity's unconventional relationship
Trinity Rodman was born to Dennis Rodman and his ex-wife Michelle Moyer in May 2002. Dennis was never a prominent figure in Trinity's life, and she was brought up by her mother in Southern California. The two have never had a conventional father-daughter relationship and Trinity has been open about this skewed relationship dynamic in the past.
An Instagram post from November 2021 highlighted the duo's relationship as Trinity shared her thoughts and feelings about her father:
"This last game was an extremely emotional one. Yes Dennis rodman showed up to an Nwsl game, but also my dad, after YEARS surprised me at a big game in my career, I was shocked, overwhelmed, happy, sad, everything. My dad doesn’t play a big role in my life at all and most people don’t know that, we don’t see eye to eye on many things. I go months if not years without his presence or communication. Being in spotlights has been hard for us, him and me. We don’t have the best relationship, but at the end of the day he’s human I’m human… he’s my dad, and I’m his little girl that will never change. I will improve and look forward everyday as I hope he does," she wrote.
This bittersweet post encapsulated the relationship between Dennis Rodman and Trinity perfectly, as the two seem to be working on their relationship. The Chicago Bulls legend voiced his disappointment in himself during his Hall of Fame induction speech, voicing his regret for not being a "great father." The duo's current relationship status remains a mystery, but we can only hope that the two will find solace in the years to come.
