"Denny keeps saying I was bad luck": Michael Jordan proves superstitions wrong after his NASCAR team wins Talladega Superspeedway

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs have been underway since February and former NBA star Michael Jordan has been fixated on it. His attention was rewarded when his team, 23XI Racing, won the Talladega Superspeedway. The former Chicago Bulls legend couldn't be more proud of his team's recent achievement on the racetrack.

Tyler Reddick played a key role in securing the win for Jordan's team as well as the unfortunate crash that the then-frontrunner Michael McDowell endured, which also played a significant role in the team's success on the track.

MJ was present at the race with his co-owner, Denny Hamlin.

"Well, Denny [Hamlin] keeps saying I was bad luck when I come to the track, and today we proved them wrong," Jordan said in a post-game interview.

When asked about what it felt like to own a team and be with the crew as they celebrate a win, Jordan said:

"As you know, it's the NBA Playoffs right now (starting at 00:50). So this is like an NBA Playoff game to me. I am so ecstatic for the fans who support the sport itself and we've been working hard trying to get ourselves up to where we can compete against all the top guys in this sport."

MJ's love for competition seems to be never-ending as he continues to be fierce in the world of sports. In this case, the world of motorsports. The team's next race will be on April 28 as 23XI Racing will compete in the Würth 400. It'll be at the Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware. The race will start at 2:00 PM ET.

Michael Jordan celebrates win with Reddick's son

Michael Jordan couldn't be happier with their recent win, especially considering the close call they had for the first-place finish. However, Tyler Reddick's brilliance behind the wheel became the highlight of the race as he led the team to a win.

After the win, Jordan was seen carrying the driver's son, Beau. Watch the video below to see how the six-time NBA champion couldn't contain his glee after the race.

"He did a great job. You ain't celebrating?" Jordan playfully asked Beau.

Reddick's son yelled "Yeah!" which led MJ to guffaw.

Jordan became a team owner in NASCAR in September 2020. Both MJ and Hamlin named Bubba Wallace as their driver for the team. In total, the team has won five races. Wallace took home two wins, while Reddick has two as well. Kurt Busch has also won one race for the team at the 2022 AdventHealth 400 track.
