Denver Nuggets vs Dallas Mavericks Player Stats and Box Score (Jan. 14) | 2024-25 NBA season

The Denver Nuggets won 118-99 against the Dallas Mavericks behind an explosive first-half performance from Jamal Murray. Denver led 71-45 at halftime and cruised to a comfortable victory. Murray erupted for 32 of his 45 points in the opening two quarters to help extend the Nuggets’ winning streak to four.

Nikola Jokic took a backseat in Murray’s sizzling-hot performance. The reigning MVP still finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals. Russell Westbrook contributed nine points, six rebounds and three assists.

Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving returned from a five-game absence due to a back injury but struggled. "Uncle Drew" tallied 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists. Daniel Gafford led the Mavericks with 13 points.

Denver Nuggets vs Dallas Mavericks Game Summary

The Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks opened a two-game mini-series on Tuesday. Denver and Dallas are 1-1 in the season series, so the winner gets the advantage. The Nuggets looked to extend a three-game winning streak when they visited Dallas for the showdown.

Denver raced to a 36-21 lead in the first quarter behind 19 points and three assists from Jamal Murray. Nikola Jokic added four points and four assists as the Nuggets offense overwhelmed the Mavs early on.

Murray sustained his hot hand in the next period, adding 13 more points. DeAndre Jordan, Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson came off the bench to give the Nuggets a boost for a 71-45 halftime lead.

Kyrie Irving led the Mavs in the first half with nine points, four rebounds and two steals. Spencer Dinwiddie contributed eight points and two rebounds. Dallas could do with more production from P.J. Washington and Klay Thompson.

The Mavericks defense showed up in the third quarter, limiting the Nuggets to 20 points after giving up 71 in the first half. Dallas’ offense, though, could not capitalize as it put up 22 points. The hosts trailed 91-67 heading into the final frame.

The home team won the fourth quarter 32-27, but the Nuggets cruised to a comfortable 118-99 win. Jamal Murray ended the night with 45 points on 18-for-26 shooting, including 5-for-9 from deep. The Joker backed him up with a 10-point, 14-rebound and 10-assist night.
