Derrick Rose's ex Mieka Reese brags about son PJ Rose playing level above his grade
Derrick Rose's ex, Mieka Reese, is now cherishing the role of a basketball mom. Since his retirement, Rose has also been actively involved in his son PJ's life. Reese often takes her son to basketball games and is proud of the fact that PJ is already playing alongside grades above his own.
She recently posted on her social media, sharing videos from her son PJ Rose's back-to-back games.
"It's game day," Mieka Reese wrote.
"Side note: @impjrose (6th grade) plays on the 8th grade team, so all the games I've been showing this year is him playing w/ 8th grade against 8th graders."
"Basketball 🏀 💙 ⛹🏽♂️👸 mom chronicles lol."
"Basketball Mom Chronicals 🏀 💙👸," she wrote in the caption.
Derrick Rose is now married to Alaina Anderson. The couple got married in September 2023 after dating for seven years and have two kids together.
Derrick Rose opens up about time he used Carmelo and Kiyan Anthony analogy to explain retirement to his son
In September this year, Derrick Rose decided to end his career in the NBA. The youngest-ever MVP in the league finally hung his boots and was ready to dedicate his time to his family and help his son realize his dream of playing in the NBA.
However, during an episode of "Club 520 Podcast" in October, Derrick Rose revealed that his son hadn't taken his retirement well. The three-time NBA All-Star player said that he had been struggling to find a perfect moment to speak to his son about retirement.
Rose revealed that one day, he was sitting and chatting alone with his son, and PJ brought up Carmelo Anthony and Kiyan. Rose said it was the perfect moment to open up to his son and use that Melo-Kiyan analogy to get him around the idea.
"I'm like bro how do you think he got better, he was like he’s working out with a trainer," Rose said. "I was like who else do you think is in the gym? He was like his dad. I’m like his dad huh? His dad’s present, do you think Melo doesn’t have nothing to do with that? He was like yeah, but at first he was of course devastated and hurt but after I kept talking to him he was excited because he sees like now I get this individual time with my dad and my son he knows exactly where he’s at right now."
"So for me to tell him that and him to be sad at first but then be excited. Since that day it’s been nothing but love." [5:15]
Growing up without a father himself, nothing could be more satisfying and joyful for Rose than breaking the chain.
