Devin Booker Injury Update: 3x All-Star's status for opening night in jeopardy following latest reports

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns don't have much going their way ahead of their 2023-24 opening night contest against the Golden State Warriors. The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Bradley Beal is unlikely to play due to a back ailment. To make things worse, Booker may have joined him on the bench tonight.

Charania released another breaking report shortly after breaking the news about Beal, saying that Booker is 50-50 for the game. He was listed as questionable on the official injury report due to a toe injury. Booker was going to try to see if he's good to go during warm-ups. However, the latest injury update from the Suns camp is that Booker will play tonight.

Kevin Durant will also be available. He wasn't on their injury report and was active during their preseason finale. It was a statement game for the new-look Suns, so Booker's presence will make a significant difference for the team in their opening game of the season, despite Beal's absence.

Devin Booker and Suns star's injury issues were biggest concern for new-look Suns

The Suns entered the preseason as a team that was believed to have tremendous upside with three elite offensive players, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. However, the downside of assembling a star-studded roster comprising these three players was their injury concerns.

With the season not even underway, the Suns can already experience what could go wrong with their approach. Phoenix has decent depth but is arguably not that reliable to win games without their best players. Phoenix will potentially need all three stars to be on the floor, especially against rival contenders.

Devin Booker is probably their most counted-on star. He's the youngest of all three and the franchise pillar. The Suns also have no point guard depth at all. Booker is expected to play that role for the team. The Suns will be glad to see him take to the floor tonight after initial doubts about his availability.

They play the Lakers next, which isn't an easy game. They could've headed towards a 0-2 start, which would've been a tough pill to swallow for the team.
