Did Patrick Beverley really request a trade from LA Lakers? Watch as he makes shocking reveal on his podcast
Although Patrick Beverley started the season as a member of the LA Lakers, his recent move to the Chicago Bulls seems to have sparked quite a change. Despite the fact that Beverley and the Bulls seem like a natural fit, nobody realized that it was the 34-year-old who requested a trade out of LA.
Given that the LA Lakers struggled throughout the season prior to the All-Star break, Beverley's desire to make the playoffs may have fueled the decision. Although the Bulls are also out of playoff contention right now, the team sits just half a game out of the play-in tournament.
During a recent episode of his 'Pat Bev podcast with Rone' the former All-Defensive First Team member explained that he got the ball rolling in Los Angeles.
"To some people, it can be that Pat Bev got traded when in all reality it was like, I didn't like what was going on. Let's find a better home. Not so much that 'okay he ain't good enough, let's get rid of him' all that shit was my decision. You got to think I'm making a decision. That was my decision. They honored my request."

Patrick Beverley and the Chicago Bulls
Since joining the Chicago Bulls, Beverley has provided an immediate spark to the team. Since joining the team the Bulls have posted a 44 point victory over the Brooklyn Nets, and a 102-82 win over the Washington Wizards.
Although the Bulls have led the league in defensive efficiency through the last 25 games, their record hasn’t reflected their play until now. Currently, the Bulls have a 28-33 record that sees them sit in 11th place in the East. Thanks to Patrick Beverley, the Bulls have been able to win two straight, giving meaning to their defensive efficiency.
Tuesday night, the Bulls will square off with the ninth place Toronto Raptors in a massive Eastern Conference clash. With the Raptors just 1.5 games ahead of the Bulls in the standings, Patrick Beverley and the team will need a win if they want to keep their hopes alive for a Play-In tournament run.
For his part, Beverley has his sights set on ensuring the Bulls win their remaining two games against the Lakers in order to knock his old team out of the playoffs. As Patrick Beverley explained on a previous episode of his podcast, the problems with the Lakers extended beyond the court, although he didn’t pinpoint them. As he and his hometown team now set their sights on turning the season around, it’s clear he’s keeping an eye on how things shake out in the West.
