"Didn't want to be the weak link"- Steph Curry reacts after successful injury comeback ahead of key clash vs Boston
Steph Curry returned to the Golden State Warriors lineup on Monday after a three-game absence due to an ankle injury. Curry was limited to just 24 minutes but still managed 24 points in the Warriors' 125-112 win over the Washington Wizards. He gave his thoughts on his return ahead of a key matchup against the Boston Celtics.
Speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area's "Warriors Postgame Live," Curry said it felt good to be back on the court and playing again. He praised his teammates for keeping the ship afloat in his absence, with the Warriors going 3-0 during that span.
"It's nice to be back with my guys," Curry said. "They've been taking care of business the last three games in pretty solid fashion, so I didn't want to be the weak link out there tonight and tried to come out and do my part. We're vibing right now. We're trying to continue to get better.
The four-time NBA champion added:
"We know we have a long way to go, three tough games coming up. I think we've really established an identity defensively, how we're trying to move the ball in offense, create good shots, Buddy Hield playing amazing, Draymond scoring the ball. Everybody’s pitching in, and it's great to see."
Steph Curry suffered the injury in the Golden State Warriors' third game of the season against the LA Clippers. The Warriors lost that game and many thought they would struggle without the great.
However, Buddy Hield and the rest of the Warriors proved the doubters wrong by going 3-0 during Curry's absence. Hield was fantastic for Golden State off the bench, while Steve Kerr was able to get the best out of his deep roster.
Steph Curry and the Warriors have an upcoming tough 3-game stretch
Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors improved to 6-1 for the season after Monday's win against the Washington Wizards. They are tied with the Phoenix Suns for the fourth-best record in the NBA just behind the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers, OKC Thunder and the 7-1 Boston Celtics.
After a day off on Tuesday for the election, the Warriors will have their first real test with a tough three-game stretch. They are set to visit the Celtics on Wednesday in a rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals.
The Warriors will then fly to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers on Friday before battling the Thunder at Oklahoma City on Nov. 10. Following their current road trip is the first game of the 2024-25 NBA In-Season Tournament. They are set to welcome Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks at the Chase Center on Nov. 12.
