Dillon Brooks makes emphatic remark about Golden State Warriors - "I own a lot of real estate in San Francisco"
Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies are some of the best young teams in the NBA right now. With the majority of their players being homegrown talents from Ja Morant to Dillon Brooks, they have grown and improved their level of play with each season together as a unit.
They have also been in an interesting rivalry against the Golden State Warriors, with Dillon Brooks having this to say after their win against the rival team:
"It's friendly trashtalk, but I own a lot of real estate in San Francisco," Brooks said.
Dillon Brooks and Klay Thompson went back and forth from their opposite benches, with Klay signaling to Brooks that he has 4 championship rings to Brooks' 0 rings.
Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies' feud with the Golden State Warriors
The rivalry between the Grizzlies and the Warriors dates back to 2019 after the Grizzlies acquired Andre Iguodala from the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors needed to trade Iguodala in order to have enough cap space to sign D'Angelo Russell when Kevin Durant left the team for the Brooklyn Nets.
However, Iguodala never showed up to the team in either training camp or even to the game itself as he wanted to be traded to a team of his preference. Dillon Brooks did not appreciate the decision made by the veteran and said this regarding the situation:
"cant wait until we find a way to trade him so we can play him and show him what Memphis is really about," Brooks said.
Iguodala did get traded to his preferred team in the Miami Heat but would soon find his way back with the Golden State Warriors in the 2021-2022 season.
The rivalry between the two reached an all-time high as Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies clashed with the Warriors in the Western Conference semifinal round. Brooks and company ended up losing the series in game 6 with a score of 110-96. The Golden State Warriors would go on to win the NBA championship that year.
The feud continued this season when Dillon Brooks had this to say about their rival team:
"I don't like Draymond at all. I just don't like Golden State. I don't like anything to do with them. Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too. His game is cool -- with Golden State -- but if you put him anywhere else, you're not going to know who Draymond is. He plays with heart, plays hard, knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that's why they like him over there," Brooks said.
Draymond Green then responded through his podcast and said this in response
"If you ever wonder why the Memphis Grizzlies is not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here. They’re actually depending on this guy to help them win a championship," Green said.
And during their final meeting of the regular season, the chirping continued as Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies secured the win against the Golden State Warriors.
Dillon Brooks scored 18 points on 7/10 shooting and was perfect from three-point range with four made three-pointers. The Grizzlies were led by Jaren Jackson Jr.(12-22 from the field), who scored 31 points, and Desmond Bane(3-5 from beyond the arc), who scored 26 points.
The Memphis Grizzlies (43-27) are in third place in the Western Conference, while the Golden State Warriors (36-36) are in seventh place.
