"Don't know if I'd be too happy" - LeBron James' former teammate speculates about possible discontent among Lakers over Bronny's roster spot
One of LeBron James' former teammates spoke about the potential discontent among players in the LA Lakers locker room regarding Bronny James. Danny Green, who won a championship with James and the Lakers in 2020, was asked how he would feel if he were still with the team.
Speaking on FanDuel TV's "Run It Back" on Wednesday, Green gave an honest take on Bronny and his readiness for the pros. The three-time NBA champ believes that LeBron's eldest son has the potential to be a pro, but is not yet ready.
Green explained that some players might not be too fond of having Bronny as a teammate since he would feel that way if he was still playing. He retired from basketball in early October after spending an entire year as a free agent.
"I like Bronny," Green said. "We watched him grow up since he was a kid. I think he's a great athlete, I think he could be a pro. I don't know if he's pro ready yet. How would I feel if I was the other guys on that roster? I don't know if I'd be too happy about it."
Danny Green played with LeBron James during his rookie year in Cleveland during the 2009-10 season. Green was also teammates with "King James" in the 2019-20 season when they won an NBA championship with the LA Lakers inside the NBA bubble.
Green first won a title in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs, beating James and the Miami Heat. He added his second ring in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors.
As for Bronny James, there were a lot of critics about him being given a roster spot just to fulfill his father's dream of playing together in the NBA. Many wanted Bronny to succeed, but preferred for him to stay in college or play in the G League and earn a spot the right way.
LeBron James returns to Cleveland on Wednesday night
Just in time for his favorite holiday, Halloween, LeBron James is back home in Ohio on Wednesday. The LA Lakers are on the road to face the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of an 11-game slate.
James was originally drafted first by the Cavaliers in 2003, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2007. He also won his first two MVP awards with the team before bolting to the Miami Heat in 2010. He earned his first two rings in South Beach and then returned to Cleveland in 2014 to fulfill a promise.
It took more than a year, but James kept his promise after winning a championship with the Cavaliers in 2016. He left for Hollywood in 2018, but as a hero, compared to when he became a villain in 2010.
The Lakers are coming off their first loss of the season in their previous game against the Phoenix Suns. James had one of his worst games ever, scoring just 11 points on 3-for-14 shooting.
