"Don't think it's impossible": Draymond Green believes LeBron James can still win a ring, but not with Lakers

As the Los Angeles Lakers enter Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets with a 0-3 record, many are already wondering if LeBron James will win another NBA championship before he retires. Among the league personalities who had a hot take on this question was Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors.

At 39 years old, the four-time NBA MVP is still very much one of the best talents in the league. But as he delays father time, the state of the Lakers for the past three seasons has given him disappointment in securing another NBA championship.

While only one team in NBA history came back from a 0-3 playoff lead, the future of the Lakers with LeBron James and their chances for another title run is in question.

On his podcast, Green was asked about his take on whether James could win another championship with the Lakers.

"Will LeBron James ever win a championship again? With this current Lakers team, I don’t think so. I think it’s going to be tough," Green said.

For the former league DPOY, there is no question about the talent that James brings, even in his 21st NBA season. But there needs to be changes on the LA Lakers roster for them to compete again for a championship.

"LeBron James winning a championship at the level that he’s playing at? Absolutely but I think some things have to be retooled and figured out and not with this current team I don’t think is possible but I don’t think it’s impossible for LeBron to win another championship," Green said.

LeBron James has a window to leave the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James has a $51.4 million player option to ponder this summer but while all hints are pointing that he is coming back to the LA Lakers, there is a window and possibility that he can leave as well.

With his son, Bronny James, also opening the door to possibly enter the 2024 NBA draft, there may be a chance that the father-son tandem may not happen with the Lakers organization.

On the other hand, James can also opt for a smaller salary to allow the Lakers to sign a free agent that can help them get back in title contention.
