"You know she don't want to marry him": Gilbert Arenas' girlfriend Melli Monaco pokes fun at ex-NBA star in Halloween post
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas and his fiancee Melli Monaco were dressed as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz for Halloween this year. Monaco posted a series of pictures on her Instagram handle, giving a peek into their day out for the occasion.
In the pictures that she posted, Melli was dressed as a bride in a red gown, while Gilbert was dressed as the groom in a red suit. Playing her character, Monaco was acting uninterested and tired of Beetlejuice.
When a user commented that the third picture (below) was funny, Monaco hilariously wrote that Deetz didn't want to marry Beetlejuice.
"You know she don't want to marry him," she wrote in reply.
The picture and the comment from Monaco was perfectly timed. Monaco and Gilbert Arenas got engaged earlier this year in Paris.
Moreover, Lydia's character in Beetlejuice has been portrayed as the protagonist's best friend. However, Beetletjuice decided to marry her because it was the only way he could escape the netherworld.
Gilbert Arenas discusses his relationship with Melli Monaco
Gilbert Arenas recently revealed that his new life with Melli Monaco has been almost perfect. However, the former Washington Wizards star also said in a video that he has had to make some adjustments in light of their engagement.
In a live stream video on "No Chill Gil," Arenas said that realizing he was engaged was a scary feeling and he didn't know that he would be nervous.
“I remember when the first time (I said), ‘Yes, so this is my fiance’. Oh, this is my fiance. I got to, you know, the vocabularies got to change,” he said.
“It's still new. I didn't realize I was going to be nervous. That's a scary feeling. It's a scary feeling. I mean, you know, but at this point in life, man, you know, you got to.”
In the later part of the video, Gilbert Arenas also opened up that he and Monaco fit perfectly because they complement each other. The former NBA player also added that he has never had an argument with his fiancee throughout the course of their relationship.
“My flaws is her strengths. My strength is her flaws. So we get to teach each other our strengths … So the things that I'm not good at, she's great at the thing. What she's not good at. I'm great at,” he said.
“So, we get to basically teach each other, right? And believe it or not … we haven't really had an argument.”
Both Gilbert Arenas and Melli Monaco are making their living through YouTube. Interestingly, the first time Arenas asked her out was on a livestream. The couple got engaged in July 2024 after the ex-Warriors player proposed to her in front of the Eiffel Tower.
