Drake name drops Kevin Durant in possible Kendrick Lamar diss track 'No Face'

Drake continued his feud with rapper Kendrick Lamar after dropping three new songs on Friday night. Just like the other diss tracks in the two rappers’ feud, Drake name-dropped an NBA star, specifically Kevin Durant, in his “No Face” song.

“No Face” was released on Drake’s Instagram account and featured rapper Playboi Carti. The track tackled those who talked against the Canadian rapper during his saga with Lamar and those who stood for him, including the two-time NBA champion Durant.

"Husher keep saying they know that they played it wrong/KD just text what the f*ck are we waiting on," Drake’s lyrics said.

The song dropped just two weeks after he released the EP "100 Gigs," featuring new songs “It’s Up,” “Blue Green Red” and “Housekeeping Knows.”

Kevin Durant hangs out with Drake on Canada Day

Kevin Durant has been one of the loyal ones in Drake’s circle even as NBA players such as LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden and Coby White were seen supporting Kendrick Lamar in his shows.

On July 1, almost a month before he won his fourth Olympic gold medal with Team USA, Durant was seen hanging out with Drake to celebrate Canada Day in the rapper’s Toronto mansion. The two were relaxing in the backyard, enjoying their drinks under the sun.

Durant has long been a friend of Drake and was referenced before in the artist’s “Pop That” single in 2012. Durant was also credited as an A&R on Drake’s 2023 album “For All the Dogs.”

In a 2016 interview, Durant called Drake his favorite rapper ever, following numerous shoutouts from the rapper in his songs.

"When your favorite rapper puts your name in a song," Durant said, "it makes you feel like you've made it, no matter what you've done."

While playing for the Golden State Warriors, Durant suited up against Drake’s favorite team, the Toronto Raptors, in the 2019 NBA Finals, where Durant ruptured his Achilles.

Kevin Durant is coming off a fruitful offseason

Kevin Durant has been busy in the past month, as he was part of the triumphant Team USA team that ruled the men’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Durant played a key role in Team USA’s conquest, becoming a reliable reliever in the forward spot. He also closed out numerous games for the Americans, including the crucial semifinal clash against Serbia. He averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game in 22 minutes during the tournament.

Durant is Team USA’s all-time scoring leader and the only basketball player ever with four Olympic gold medals after participating in the last four biennial Games.

Alongside Durant were LeBron James and Steph Curry, who were both former rivals of the one-time NBA MVP. Durant won two of his titles with Curry in Golden State.
