"Drake don't need Lebron he got KD & Curry" - NBA fans abuzz over Drake unfollowing LeBron James on IG amid Diddy controversy
As the 2024 NBA season looms, LeBron James and popular music artist Drake are seemingly at odds. While the two have been friends for years, with Drake attending several of James' games and appearing on The Shop, recent events suggest their friendship is on the rocks.
On Tuesday, a fan shared screenshots on X showing that James still follows Drake on Instagram. However, Drake no longer follows LeBron.
The NBA community reacted quickly to the news, with fans split regarding the reasoning behind Drake unfollowing LeBron. As some pointed out, LeBron James was not only seen vibing to Kendrick Lamar's diss tracks aimed at Drake but also attended Lamar's concert in LA over the summer.
Meanwhile, many questioned if Drake's choice to unfollow LeBron had anything to do with the NBA star's connection to Diddy.

Drake's snub of LeBron James during 2024 Paris Olympics this summer led to fans theorizing about beef
When the Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef began during the NBA Playoffs, a line was drawn in the NBA community. With each diss track dropped over the ensuing weeks and months, NBA fans continued to weigh in on the feud and pick sides.
Initially, LeBron played things down the middle, comparing the beef to a heavyweight boxing match. Because he plays in Los Angeles, where Kendrick Lamar is from, and because of his longstanding friendship with Drake, it was no surprise James had a foot in both camps.
However, LBJ rapped along to one of Kendrick Lamar's diss tracks aimed at Drake. That, combined with James' decision to attend a pop-up concert in LA hosted by Lamar, was viewed by many fans as James picking a side.
Then, during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Drake took to social media to wish several NBA players well. He included photos of Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry from Team USA, as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from Team Canada.
The obvious omission of LeBron James was, at that time, the only indication that Drizzy might not be happy with LeBron. Now, with Drake unfollowing the four-time champ on Instagram, it sounds as though he's making it clear that he and the NBA star are at odds.
